As a lucky winner of The Hwahae Testers, here's my honest review. 1. Texture/Application Being a hydrating cream, it's quite lightweight. The bouncy texture makes it enjoyable to apply on the skin. The cream glides on gently without irritation. It's so gentle that I even applied it to my neck throughout the testing period. Moreover, it spreads thinly, allowing for easy reapplication without feeling heavy. 2. Hydration As expected from a hydrating cream, it provides ample moisture. You can feel an instant boost of hydration as it absorbs into the skin. 3. Ingredients As shown in Hwahae's ingredient analysis, the absence of harmful ingredients is perhaps its biggest advantage. Overall, it's a pretty decent hydrating cream with minimal chemical irritation from its ingredients and minimal physical irritation from its application. 1. Adjustment period needed During the initial days of testing, I almost stopped using it due to some irritation. However, after about four days, my skin adapted and I was able to use the product comfortably. Those with sensitive skin should carefully check the ingredients. 2. Recommended for summer use on dehydrated oily skin My skin tends to be dehydrated. Using this product during the somewhat dry transitional season, I experienced some deep dryness. As the weather got warmer, the feeling of dryness decreased, but I still felt the need to reapply at night. It might work well on its own in summer. However, for other seasons, it's advisable to either boost your skincare routine with more hydrating products before this one, or layer a richer cream on top for added moisture. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 3, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers: Pros: 1. Gentle ingredients: It contains only very mild ingredients, so you can apply it generously without worrying about the formulation. Even with my super sensitive skin, I didn't experience any redness or blemishes at all! 2. Absorbs well: Unlike typical creams, it absorbs very quickly. There's hardly any stickiness, and even when reapplied, it absorbs immediately, which I loved. 3. Hydration: With its translucent gel-cream texture, it definitely provides a high level of moisture. 4. Spatula and mirror: They thoughtfully included a spatula for hygienic application and a cute mirror. I wish the mirror made the face appear a bit brighter though. The mirror surface is close to gray, making it difficult to properly check skin condition. 5. Great for summer or oily skin types: Despite its fresh feel, it's quite moisturizing, perfect for when rich creams feel too heavy! 6. Gives a glow: Even with its light texture, it leaves the skin with a beautiful glow!!! 7. Fragrance-free: This might be hit or miss for some. It's not completely scentless, there's a slight natural cosmetic ingredient scent when applying. Unless you're very sensitive, you'll perceive it as fragrance-free. After application, it's completely scentless. Cons: 1. Initial tingling sensation: When I first applied it, there was a slight tingling. My skin condition was normal, but it felt a bit sensitive. The tingling didn't last long though, it disappeared as the product absorbed and didn't cause any redness. After 3 days of use, even this initial tingling sensation went away. 2. Heavy container: I wish the cream jar was a bit lighter. Overall impression + Usage tips: This product might not be sufficient for those with dry skin to maintain moisture all day long. If you need to be active all day, applying this before makeup might lead to tightness in the afternoon. Instead, it's great for days when you want to minimize your skincare routine or when you need something light after using a sheet mask and don't want to apply a rich cream! I always use this cream as a finishing step after a sheet mask. It gives a fresh finish with a beautiful glow!!! It's very useful when you want to apply lots of serum or essence, cut down on oils, but still need a cream to finish off your routine. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 3, 2018
It's gentle and not heavy at all. Usually, when I use heavy creams, my skin gets super oily, but this one maintains the moisture from previous skincare steps while adding more hydration. It's moisturizing and creates a protective layer, yet feels incredibly light (it's amazing!). The texture is almost like an essence, similar to mixing a cream with a mist - it applies with a watery feel. This is truly a versatile cream you can use all year round, regardless of the season. Also, they thoughtfully include a little spoon for hygienic application. While I don't use it often, I appreciate the consideration - it's a nice touch! The product doesn't have a firm texture. Because of this, I wish it came in an emulsion or essence bottle rather than the current cream container, which isn't very hygienic or convenient. Additionally, I didn't notice at first, but as I continued using it, I experienced a burning sensation and tingling around my nose and mouth areas when applying. It didn't cause any visible reactions, but I wonder if there might be an ingredient that doesn't agree with my skin. This is a product you can use without any special expectations or thoughts. I had a bad reaction to a vitamin product, so I just used this one exclusively for a few days. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinSensitive SkinApr 2, 2018
[The Hwahae Testers Review] As someone with combination dehydrated skin and contact dermatitis that's extremely vulnerable to irritation, I was initially concerned. Even with products claiming zero harmful ingredients, my face would often react badly if there were unusual base ingredients. However, I've come to realize that Cha Yote is actually a gentle ingredient with high moisture content - truly skin-friendly. Its texture is lighter than most moisturizers, absorbs well, and applies smoothly without causing makeup to pill. While there's a slight drying sensation a few minutes after application, I actually prefer this current formulation. Adding film-forming agents or oils to combat this would likely irritate my skin. Most importantly, it doesn't cause any irritation, making it highly suitable for sensitive skin. I'm particularly impressed that it offers anti-wrinkle and brightening benefits without causing irritation. I plan to continue using it, as this level of hydration is perfect for my face during spring and summer. There doesn't seem to be any downsides other than the slight dryness. It seems to pair wonderfully with CHA:LAB ampoules or La Roche-Posay Cicaplast. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 2, 2018
* This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. 1. It's gentle. Looking at the ingredient list, there are no high-risk components. When actually using it, it feels mild on the skin without any irritation. 2. The scent is pleasant. I usually dislike the artificial fragrance typical in cosmetics and prefer unscented products, but this one has a subtle, sweet juice scent that I really enjoyed without any aversion. 3. The oil and moisture balance is good. It provides not just hydration but also the right amount of oil. It doesn't feel heavy, but gives a fresh, nourishing sensation. 4. It absorbs well and has a good texture. For a cream, it has a slightly runny consistency, but when applied to the face, it melts into the skin like it's dissolving with body heat and absorbs quickly. 1. It's oilier than expected. Although I mentioned in point 3 of the positives that the oil and moisture balance is good and feels fresh, for a 'moisturizer', and especially for a cream advertised as 'low in oil', it was quite oily. 2. It's unremarkable. Apparently, chayote is very high in water content and contains nutrients like Vitamin C, minerals, and amino acids. However, I couldn't really tell these benefits, and the product feels rather ordinary without any strong characteristics. 3. The packaging is inconvenient. I prefer tube containers that you can squeeze rather than jar containers you have to scoop from, so the packaging was a bit disappointing. It's less hygienic than a tube type. To be honest, while I was really satisfied with the overall user experience, I'm hesitant about spending my own money to buy this product. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 2, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers! This product really lives up to its 'hydration bomb' name. It feels incredibly moisturizing, and you can really sense the hydration boost. The absorption is average - it doesn't leave a sticky residue and finishes with a nice, hydrated feel. As someone with oily, sensitive skin, I was able to use it without any irritation, and it left my skin feeling fresh. I believe it was also fragrance-free. This seems more suitable for dry, sensitive skin rather than oily, blemish-prone skin. While it's very hydrating and non-irritating, the moisture level might feel a bit greasy for oily skin types. I didn't notice any particular effect on calming blemishes. For those with extremely dry skin, the hydration might not be quite enough! It's great for mixing with facial oils. The moisturizing formula blends well with rosehip oil, which is a plus! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 31, 2018
‼️The Hwahae Testers review‼️ Looking at the ingredients, there are no harmful substances, and it feels gentle when applying! I have combination dehydrated skin, and I think this is a light moisturizer that would be better for summer rather than the changing seasons like now. Not only does it provide hydration, but it also has anti-wrinkle and brightening functions. Update 180425: After using This Is Real pad to cleanse my face once, I've been applying this cream generously for a month... My skin has improved so much! Since I tend to have oily skin, applying it generously doesn't make my skin feel dry. The tingling sensation has also gradually disappeared... The amount is surprisingly generous, so it lasts a long time. My skin's appearance has improved! I'm not sure if it's the brightening function that's causing issues... It stings a lot when applied to areas with blemishes. And it's like, how should I put it, it feels like it's waking up dormant blemishes under the skin? I'm not sure if using it long-term would be beneficial by bringing all the blemishes to the surface, but with short-term use, it just feels like a moisturizer that makes blemishes appear. I'll write another review after finishing the whole container. Also, it's drying. If I apply it once before bed, my skin feels dry. I need to apply it at least twice before going to sleep... - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 26, 2018
The Hwahae Testers review~ It didn't cause any irritation and felt like it created a protective layer on my skin. I applied my usual toner and, since I have oily skin, I mixed half toner and half Yothe cream to avoid it feeling too heavy. It felt slightly like it was sitting on top of my skin, but I think that's because I have oily skin. It would probably absorb well for those with dry skin~ While it might be great for dry skin, unfortunately I have oily skin... Since it's a cream with a rich texture, I couldn't apply too much. I had to mix it with toner to use it comfortably. I'll give it to my mother who has dry skin~ I applied the cream by gently pressing it into my skin with my hands to help it absorb! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 24, 2018
The hydration level was just right, leaving my skin feeling moisturized when applied. There was hardly any oily residue, making it perfect for lightweight use! It was gentle on my skin and didn't cause any blemishes. While it felt hydrating when applied, the dry weather caused the moisture to evaporate quickly, leading to some skin tightness. Since it's a product without much oil content, this was somewhat expected. This product seems perfect for summer use! It's high in hydration but low in oil content, so I'd recommend it for those with oily skin. For combination dehydrated or dry skin types, I'd suggest using it in summer. I've previously used Mamonde's Ceramide Light Moisture Cream and I'm currently using Acwell's moisturizer. All three have similar hydration levels, but in terms of richness, it goes Mamonde > Acwell > Chayote. I think Mamonde is suitable for winter, Acwell for spring and fall, and Chayote for summer.
