I personally find that it absorbs well and has a nice texture. The scent is also fairly pleasant. I notice a slight tingling sensation that comes and goes. This is just my subjective experience though. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAcne SkinApr 4, 2018
It's got a nice, bouncy texture that adheres well to the skin when applied. While it feels slightly oily at first, it absorbs better than expected. You can still feel a light layer on your skin, but it's not overwhelming. It works well with mineral sunscreen and doesn't pill or feel too sticky even in hot weather, which is great. Fortunately, I didn't experience any major blemishes, but I did notice some redness. While it wasn't solely due to this product, it definitely contributed. This could vary depending on individual skin types and conditions, so I'd recommend testing it yourself. Adding an update as the seasons change: While it was great for summer use, as the weather turned colder and drier, it couldn't quite handle the flaky dead skin cells or the tight, dry feeling. This product seems to be weather-dependent. I'd recommend it for hot, sweaty summer days. Now, I only use it before bed, not for going out. One more thing! When used with mineral sunscreen, it tends to pill and separate. It seems to mix well with richer creams, adhering nicely even when applied after them. But with this cream, if you apply sunscreen over it, they don't blend well, making it a bit tricky to get good skin adhesion. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 3, 2018
This review is based on my experience as one of The Hwahae Testers! I have oily skin but with some deep dryness. Here's my take: 1. Application It applies and absorbs like a hydrating moisturizer! However, the hydration level isn't quite as intense as a typical moisturizer. 2. Moisturizing Moisturizing? It feels more like applying an essence for oily skin rather than a cream. It's like using a cream with an essence-like texture. Unfortunately, it's not very moisturizing. 3. Finish The finish is what I liked best! It seems perfect for oily skin in summer! However, for a cream, the lasting moisturization is quite disappointing. 4. I layered a thin coat of oil for oily skin or a more moisturizing cream on top of this, and that worked much better for me! 1. Even though it's meant for oily skin, it becomes too dry over time. You know that feeling when your skin gets so dry it looks slightly cracked and wrinkled? It's not severe, but it's noticeably dry. This works wonders on lips! If you apply this and then add a very thin layer of Vaseline on top, you'll wake up with incredibly soft lips the next day! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 3, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers: Pros: 1. Gentle ingredients: It contains only very mild ingredients, so you can apply it generously without worrying about the formulation. Even with my super sensitive skin, I didn't experience any redness or blemishes at all! 2. Absorbs well: Unlike typical creams, it absorbs very quickly. There's hardly any stickiness, and even when reapplied, it absorbs immediately, which I loved. 3. Hydration: With its translucent gel-cream texture, it definitely provides a high level of moisture. 4. Spatula and mirror: They thoughtfully included a spatula for hygienic application and a cute mirror. I wish the mirror made the face appear a bit brighter though. The mirror surface is close to gray, making it difficult to properly check skin condition. 5. Great for summer or oily skin types: Despite its fresh feel, it's quite moisturizing, perfect for when rich creams feel too heavy! 6. Gives a glow: Even with its light texture, it leaves the skin with a beautiful glow!!! 7. Fragrance-free: This might be hit or miss for some. It's not completely scentless, there's a slight natural cosmetic ingredient scent when applying. Unless you're very sensitive, you'll perceive it as fragrance-free. After application, it's completely scentless. Cons: 1. Initial tingling sensation: When I first applied it, there was a slight tingling. My skin condition was normal, but it felt a bit sensitive. The tingling didn't last long though, it disappeared as the product absorbed and didn't cause any redness. After 3 days of use, even this initial tingling sensation went away. 2. Heavy container: I wish the cream jar was a bit lighter. Overall impression + Usage tips: This product might not be sufficient for those with dry skin to maintain moisture all day long. If you need to be active all day, applying this before makeup might lead to tightness in the afternoon. Instead, it's great for days when you want to minimize your skincare routine or when you need something light after using a sheet mask and don't want to apply a rich cream! I always use this cream as a finishing step after a sheet mask. It gives a fresh finish with a beautiful glow!!! It's very useful when you want to apply lots of serum or essence, cut down on oils, but still need a cream to finish off your routine. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinSensitive SkinApr 2, 2018
[The Hwahae Testers Review] As someone with combination dehydrated skin and contact dermatitis that's extremely vulnerable to irritation, I was initially concerned. Even with products claiming zero harmful ingredients, my face would often react badly if there were unusual base ingredients. However, I've come to realize that Cha Yote is actually a gentle ingredient with high moisture content - truly skin-friendly. Its texture is lighter than most moisturizers, absorbs well, and applies smoothly without causing makeup to pill. While there's a slight drying sensation a few minutes after application, I actually prefer this current formulation. Adding film-forming agents or oils to combat this would likely irritate my skin. Most importantly, it doesn't cause any irritation, making it highly suitable for sensitive skin. I'm particularly impressed that it offers anti-wrinkle and brightening benefits without causing irritation. I plan to continue using it, as this level of hydration is perfect for my face during spring and summer. There doesn't seem to be any downsides other than the slight dryness. It seems to pair wonderfully with CHA:LAB ampoules or La Roche-Posay Cicaplast. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 2, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers! This product really lives up to its 'hydration bomb' name. It feels incredibly moisturizing, and you can really sense the hydration boost. The absorption is average - it doesn't leave a sticky residue and finishes with a nice, hydrated feel. As someone with oily, sensitive skin, I was able to use it without any irritation, and it left my skin feeling fresh. I believe it was also fragrance-free. This seems more suitable for dry, sensitive skin rather than oily, blemish-prone skin. While it's very hydrating and non-irritating, the moisture level might feel a bit greasy for oily skin types. I didn't notice any particular effect on calming blemishes. For those with extremely dry skin, the hydration might not be quite enough! It's great for mixing with facial oils. The moisturizing formula blends well with rosehip oil, which is a plus! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinApr 1, 2018
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers :) I've been using this product for 10 days now^^ For an accurate assessment, I used only this product after cleansing, without any other skincare items for 10 days. (I usually only apply one cream and an eye cream anyway) First, let me briefly describe my skin type: 1. Combination dehydrated skin 2. Thin skin (due to Fraxel side effects). 1. ⭐️It absorbs quickly. Because I have combination dehydrated skin, if a cream doesn't absorb well and just sits on top, I'll get blemishes 90% of the time, and my skin becomes an oil slick. However, I can't use lightweight soothing gel-type products as they're too light for me (they make my skin too dry). This product has a texture between a gel and a cream. It absorbs much faster than a cream - just pat it in and it's quickly absorbed. This is very convenient when I'm tired after work and just want to cleanse and go to bed (quick absorption means quick sleep). Importantly, there's no excess product sitting on my skin, so I don't get any blemishes (which is impressive considering I'm about a week away from my period). 2. ⭐️No oiliness when I wake up! By 'no oiliness', I mean there's no insufficient sebum production. Those with oily skin will understand - that suffocating oiliness when you wake up... But since using this product, from day one, there hasn't been an oil explosion. Yet it doesn't leave my skin dry either. Since discovering the Chayote Cream, I'm very satisfied that there's no major oil slick when I wake up. 3. Light texture (good for daily use, not just as a night cream) Even with combination dehydrated skin, the area around my mouth is sensitive and combination. Only cream-type lip balms can keep the dryness at bay, and if I only apply a light emulsion before makeup, this area inevitably looks patchy ㅠㅠ. So I tried applying a bit of this as an alternative before makeup, and because it absorbs quickly and is lightweight despite being a cream, my makeup doesn't pill or slide off. 1. Stinging around the mouth When cleansing, I use a Clarisonic every 2-3 days for exfoliation and deep cleansing. After using the Clarisonic, if I apply the Chayote Cream around my mouth, it stings... I think this was mentioned in some previous reviews too... However, it usually subsides after a few minutes, and there's no redness or rash apart from the stinging, so I continue to use it. When the area around my mouth is extremely dry... applying this stings a lot..ㅠㅠ This also subsides after a few minutes, so I keep using it.. But I think this aspect needs improvement when the product is renewed. I think those with dry skin might find it too light, while those with combination skin could use it in summer. However, since this product is targeted at oily skin (especially combination dehydrated), I won't list this as a con. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinApr 1, 2018
The Hwahae Testers review here! I had just run out of my moisturizer and was about to buy a new one when, perfect timing! I won the Chayote Cream! Thank you so much! Here's my review after using it for a week~ 1. Absorbs like a dream The cream's texture is between a gel and a balm. It absorbs really well. It sinks into the skin without leaving any residue. As a result, the finish is light and fresh. Since there's no pilling, you can layer it on when your skin feels extra dry. 2. Balanced oil and moisture While it's a moisturizer, it's not overly hydrating. The oil and moisture balance is just right. My usual skincare routine is toner - ampoule (or essence) - moisturizer. But with this product, I could just use an exfoliating toner and finish with this cream, and my skin didn't feel dry at all. It seems perfect for the upcoming summer too. (✅ I looked up Chayote fruit as it was an unfamiliar ingredient. It's a tropical crop with very high water content.) 1. Hydration? Lower lasting power than expected The Chayote Cream box introduces the product with words like 'water bomb', 'moisturizing', and 'hydration explosion recipe'. It also mentions the addition of functional ingredients like 'niacinamide' and 'adenosine'. In reality, this product could be described as a decent cream with a balanced oil-moisture ratio, but I'm not sure about its superior hydrating power. It feels quite moisturizing when applied, but that feeling doesn't last very long. Given that they've highlighted the water-rich Chayote as the main ingredient, I expected outstanding hydration and long-lasting effects. This aspect was a bit disappointing. As for its functional benefits, I think I'll need to use it for a longer period to see the results, so I plan to keep using it consistently. 2. Potential for irritation When I first tested the sample, I felt a slight tingling sensation. I wondered if it was due to the ingredients, so I gradually applied it to let my skin adapt, and it was fine after that. Although they claim it's made with gentle ingredients safe for sensitive skin, it seems it can still cause irritation when the skin is particularly sensitive. Also, it contains yeast and fermented extracts. If fermented extracts don't agree with your skin, you might want to skip this product. I tend to have very dry lips with dead skin cells, but I found a solution! In the evening, I gently pat some of this moisturizer on my lips, wait a few minutes, then lightly wipe it off with a cotton pad. It leaves my lips feeling smooth! Sometimes I use it as a sleeping pack just for my lips, applying a small amount before bed. When I wake up, my lips are free of dead skin cells and feel perfectly maintained. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 29, 2018
The Hwahae Testers Review: I have sensitive, dehydrated, oily skin prone to acne (whiteheads), redness, and dermatitis. I received the product on Wednesday and started using it on Thursday. Recommended for oily skin types who dislike sticky textures. It absorbs quickly without any stickiness, leaving a noticeable moisturizing effect. The scent I detected was a subtle coconut oil fragrance, which wasn't overpowering and made application pleasant. Despite my combination dehydrated skin, one application was enough to keep dryness at bay. The texture allows for multiple layers without feeling heavy. The ingredients are great. Although it comes in a jar, it includes a spatula for hygienic use. Upon initial use, my skin felt uncomfortably warm, and areas with acne or wounds stung, which was alarming. Other reviews mentioned similar experiences, indicating a potential issue. Despite seemingly good ingredients and claims of being suitable for sensitive skin (even the founder has sensitive skin), it didn't work for me. Like personalities, sensitive skin can vary greatly between individuals. I continued use for 5 more days hoping for improvement. The second application caused less stinging but created a numbing sensation around my mouth and lips. This sensation lasted 10-20 minutes and varied with my skin's condition. Some days were fine, others ranged from warmth to numbness. The real problem arose when I developed an allergic reaction. After 4 days of use, I was horrified on the 5th morning. While my T-zone typically has small bumps, large pores, and texture issues, the rest of my usually clear skin erupted in tiny, unsightly bumps resembling hives. It became itchy and unbearable. I used it one more day before realizing it was the culprit. Two days after stopping, my skin began to calm down. I'm still recovering, which is frustrating. I'm unsure which ingredient caused this, but I had a similar reaction to Tony Moly's The Green Tea Emulsion before. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives for me, resulting in a low rating. Before full application, patch test on a small area of skin. If it seems fine, proceed with caution. Note that even though I tested a sample on my face a few times without issue before using the full product, I still developed an allergic reaction. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 28, 2018
The Hwahae Testers review - 2.5 stars First off, I'm grateful for the opportunity to test the full-size product. I was especially delighted by the thoughtful inclusion of samples and a lovely mirror. While I wish I could give a higher rating, I believe that if the company takes various opinions into account and makes improvements, it will ultimately benefit product development in the long run. 1. Made with high-quality ingredients. 2. Absorbs quickly and applies smoothly! (No stickiness) 3. No pilling when applying makeup. 4. Oh, nice! They've included a spatula. It's great that they provide a clean way to scoop out the product. 5. Recommended for those with oily skin who dislike rich textures. 1. As others have mentioned, why does it cause a tingling sensation on the skin? I thought it was just me being sensitive, but apparently not... The ingredients were supposed to be safe, so this needs urgent improvement! A gentle product shouldn't cause any irritation. (This is the biggest reason for the point deduction) 2. These days, moisturizers are often categorized for oily, combination, or dry skin types. However, this product's hydration level seems inadequate to cater to all skin types. It's not particularly moisturizing, nor does it provide a noticeable cooling effect. What I mean is, I have combination skin, and after a few hours of wear, my nose area starts to look patchy, and dry skin cells appear (see attached photo). For an accurate review, I stopped using my regular moisturizer and switched to this one, which is when these issues started. They should either create separate products for different skin types or boost the hydrating and moisturizing ingredients. 3. I believe that a product should excel at its primary function. A moisturizer can be considered good if it provides excellent hydration and moisture. This one, however, also includes brightening and anti-wrinkle ingredients. I think it might be better to remove these secondary functions and focus more on the main purpose (hydration and moisture). Trying to include too many benefits can lead to losing sight of the product's essence. This may be too dry for those with combination to dry skin. Try mixing in a drop or two of facial oil or hyaluronic acid when applying. It should be fine for those with oily skin who aren't sensitive.
