I'm honored to have been selected as one of The Hwahae Testers! Here's my honest review. At first, it feels thick like most creams, but once applied, it feels refreshing. After about 3 minutes, I'm amazed at how lightweight this cream can be. Initially, the hydration felt great, but the moisturizing effect doesn't seem to last very long. I'd recommend this more for summer than winter. I was surprised at how lightweight a cream could be. I think it would work really well if you mix in a drop or two of facial oil. - Hwahae UserOily SkinApr 3, 2018
As a lucky winner of The Hwahae Testers, here's my honest review. 1. Texture/Application Being a hydrating cream, it's quite lightweight. The bouncy texture makes it enjoyable to apply on the skin. The cream glides on gently without irritation. It's so gentle that I even applied it to my neck throughout the testing period. Moreover, it spreads thinly, allowing for easy reapplication without feeling heavy. 2. Hydration As expected from a hydrating cream, it provides ample moisture. You can feel an instant boost of hydration as it absorbs into the skin. 3. Ingredients As shown in Hwahae's ingredient analysis, the absence of harmful ingredients is perhaps its biggest advantage. Overall, it's a pretty decent hydrating cream with minimal chemical irritation from its ingredients and minimal physical irritation from its application. 1. Adjustment period needed During the initial days of testing, I almost stopped using it due to some irritation. However, after about four days, my skin adapted and I was able to use the product comfortably. Those with sensitive skin should carefully check the ingredients. 2. Recommended for summer use on dehydrated oily skin My skin tends to be dehydrated. Using this product during the somewhat dry transitional season, I experienced some deep dryness. As the weather got warmer, the feeling of dryness decreased, but I still felt the need to reapply at night. It might work well on its own in summer. However, for other seasons, it's advisable to either boost your skincare routine with more hydrating products before this one, or layer a richer cream on top for added moisture. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 3, 2018
It's gentle and not heavy at all. Usually, when I use heavy creams, my skin gets super oily, but this one maintains the moisture from previous skincare steps while adding more hydration. It's moisturizing and creates a protective layer, yet feels incredibly light (it's amazing!). The texture is almost like an essence, similar to mixing a cream with a mist - it applies with a watery feel. This is truly a versatile cream you can use all year round, regardless of the season. Also, they thoughtfully include a little spoon for hygienic application. While I don't use it often, I appreciate the consideration - it's a nice touch! The product doesn't have a firm texture. Because of this, I wish it came in an emulsion or essence bottle rather than the current cream container, which isn't very hygienic or convenient. Additionally, I didn't notice at first, but as I continued using it, I experienced a burning sensation and tingling around my nose and mouth areas when applying. It didn't cause any visible reactions, but I wonder if there might be an ingredient that doesn't agree with my skin. This is a product you can use without any special expectations or thoughts. I had a bad reaction to a vitamin product, so I just used this one exclusively for a few days. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinSensitive SkinApr 2, 2018
[The Hwahae Testers Review] As someone with combination dehydrated skin and contact dermatitis that's extremely vulnerable to irritation, I was initially concerned. Even with products claiming zero harmful ingredients, my face would often react badly if there were unusual base ingredients. However, I've come to realize that Cha Yote is actually a gentle ingredient with high moisture content - truly skin-friendly. Its texture is lighter than most moisturizers, absorbs well, and applies smoothly without causing makeup to pill. While there's a slight drying sensation a few minutes after application, I actually prefer this current formulation. Adding film-forming agents or oils to combat this would likely irritate my skin. Most importantly, it doesn't cause any irritation, making it highly suitable for sensitive skin. I'm particularly impressed that it offers anti-wrinkle and brightening benefits without causing irritation. I plan to continue using it, as this level of hydration is perfect for my face during spring and summer. There doesn't seem to be any downsides other than the slight dryness. It seems to pair wonderfully with CHA:LAB ampoules or La Roche-Posay Cicaplast. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 1, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers: This is a jar-type moisturizer that comes with a small spatula. The cream is a nearly white, opaque color with a lightweight texture. It's very smooth, making it easy to apply, and doesn't pill at all. (I tend to pat all products into my skin.) I was using the Beyond moisturizer before, but compared to that, this one has a nice, velvety feel on the skin. When patting it in, it doesn't feel completely watery, but rather like a moisturizer with a drop of oil mixed in - there's a slight richness to it. Even when I layered it twice, it didn't feel heavy on my skin. I appreciated that it's fragrance-free. If you smell closely, there's a very faint scent, but it's just the typical smell you get from skincare products without added fragrances. It's not overwhelming at all when applying, which is great. I checked on the Hwahae app and confirmed there were no harmful ingredients, so I used it with peace of mind. Throughout the usage period, I didn't experience any blemishes from this product! It really seems like a very gentle moisturizer. As I mentioned earlier about the texture, it's not a moisturizer that absorbs completely like water. It leaves a very thin oily film on the skin at the end. It's not enough to clog pores or cause blemishes, and it does help prevent moisture from evaporating quickly. While I don't completely dislike it, I did find the slight oily feeling left on my palms and lips after application a bit bothersome. However, it does become more matte as time passes and it absorbs! When I tried applying just this product in two layers after cleansing, without using any other products, I felt dry after a while. But that might be expected since I usually use an exfoliating toner, then do the 7-skin method, followed by a moisturizer and a cica cream... The results may vary depending on your skin condition. I'm not sure how it would work for those who usually find a single moisturizer sufficient. I think this product fulfills its role as a moisturizer well and is good for use without causing irritation or blemishes. It would be great if it goes on sale more often! - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinApr 1, 2018
The Hwahae Testers review here! I had just run out of my moisturizer and was about to buy a new one when, perfect timing! I won the Chayote Cream! Thank you so much! Here's my review after using it for a week~ 1. Absorbs like a dream The cream's texture is between a gel and a balm. It absorbs really well. It sinks into the skin without leaving any residue. As a result, the finish is light and fresh. Since there's no pilling, you can layer it on when your skin feels extra dry. 2. Balanced oil and moisture While it's a moisturizer, it's not overly hydrating. The oil and moisture balance is just right. My usual skincare routine is toner - ampoule (or essence) - moisturizer. But with this product, I could just use an exfoliating toner and finish with this cream, and my skin didn't feel dry at all. It seems perfect for the upcoming summer too. (✅ I looked up Chayote fruit as it was an unfamiliar ingredient. It's a tropical crop with very high water content.) 1. Hydration? Lower lasting power than expected The Chayote Cream box introduces the product with words like 'water bomb', 'moisturizing', and 'hydration explosion recipe'. It also mentions the addition of functional ingredients like 'niacinamide' and 'adenosine'. In reality, this product could be described as a decent cream with a balanced oil-moisture ratio, but I'm not sure about its superior hydrating power. It feels quite moisturizing when applied, but that feeling doesn't last very long. Given that they've highlighted the water-rich Chayote as the main ingredient, I expected outstanding hydration and long-lasting effects. This aspect was a bit disappointing. As for its functional benefits, I think I'll need to use it for a longer period to see the results, so I plan to keep using it consistently. 2. Potential for irritation When I first tested the sample, I felt a slight tingling sensation. I wondered if it was due to the ingredients, so I gradually applied it to let my skin adapt, and it was fine after that. Although they claim it's made with gentle ingredients safe for sensitive skin, it seems it can still cause irritation when the skin is particularly sensitive. Also, it contains yeast and fermented extracts. If fermented extracts don't agree with your skin, you might want to skip this product. I tend to have very dry lips with dead skin cells, but I found a solution! In the evening, I gently pat some of this moisturizer on my lips, wait a few minutes, then lightly wipe it off with a cotton pad. It leaves my lips feeling smooth! Sometimes I use it as a sleeping pack just for my lips, applying a small amount before bed. When I wake up, my lips are free of dead skin cells and feel perfectly maintained. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinMar 30, 2018
- Light cream texture - Immediately improves skin texture and deep dryness. My skin felt bumpy to the touch even though it looked fine, but this cream smoothed it out. Interestingly, they didn't advertise this benefit, but it's the most effective aspect (which is both funny and sad). It also seems to have slightly reduced neck wrinkles. - Contains natural and fermented ingredients. As expected, there's a slight tingling... Wrinkle-improving ingredients often cause this sensation, so it might not suit everyone. However, this is characteristic of all products with these functions, so it's debatable whether it's a drawback. (If this were considered a flaw, many brands would have to close shop!) I continued using it and after adapting, I no longer feel the tingling or warmth. I'm satisfied with the effects mentioned above. Once fully absorbed, it leaves your skin feeling powdery soft. - The scent is pleasant and natural. If I had to compare it to something, it's like a cool, herbal scent similar to cucumber or aloe. Regarding the brightening function, I'm not sure... Sigh, I had high hopes for this... Maybe the effects will show with continued use? - Despite being lightweight, it still has a rich feel... As someone with oily skin, I don't need the extra richness. On the bright side, it seems to work well under makeup, but those looking to end their skincare routine with this might be a bit disappointed. To get rid of the rich feeling, you can't just rub it in - you have to wait for it to naturally absorb, which takes about an hour. Slow absorption. - If you're sensitive to natural or fermented ingredients, it's best to avoid this. It may cause a tingling sensation. - Works better when applied to damp skin - Can be used as a night pack or makeup base - Hwahae UserOily SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 24, 2018
The hydration level was just right, leaving my skin feeling moisturized when applied. There was hardly any oily residue, making it perfect for lightweight use! It was gentle on my skin and didn't cause any blemishes. While it felt hydrating when applied, the dry weather caused the moisture to evaporate quickly, leading to some skin tightness. Since it's a product without much oil content, this was somewhat expected. This product seems perfect for summer use! It's high in hydration but low in oil content, so I'd recommend it for those with oily skin. For combination dehydrated or dry skin types, I'd suggest using it in summer. I've previously used Mamonde's Ceramide Light Moisture Cream and I'm currently using Acwell's moisturizer. All three have similar hydration levels, but in terms of richness, it goes Mamonde > Acwell > Chayote. I think Mamonde is suitable for winter, Acwell for spring and fall, and Chayote for summer.
