- An honest review from someone with super sensitive skin - My skin is extremely sensitive. Starting with contact dermatitis and experiencing various skin issues, my skin has become even more delicate. I've always struggled to switch skincare products easily, and finding suitable ones has been like catching stars. That's why I decided to try the Horse Oil Cream! This is actually my second encounter with horse oil cream. Over a decade ago, when it was trendy, I tried another brand's version. It wasn't 100% horse oil but had a low concentration with other ingredients. Unfortunately, it made my skin greasy and caused a blemish outbreak, so I didn't have a positive impression of horse oil. The Toad Horse Oil Cream first caught my eye with its unique design - like an old-fashioned ointment in a very red jar that evokes nostalgia. Most importantly, I had both expectations and concerns about it being 100% horse oil without any additives. But it turned out to be much better than I expected! Honestly, I thought it might have a strange smell, but it has a subtle, pleasant fragrance that isn't irritating. And surprisingly, it's not very greasy! Being 100% horse oil, when you gently spread and pat it in, it absorbs well leaving a clean, non-greasy finish on your face. I expected it to be extremely oily, but it's actually quite mild. I think the true effects of this product will show with consistent use. Even though I have dry skin, in summer I tend to get oily and sticky due to humidity and heat. So this product might be a bit heavy for summer, but it's perfect for fall and winter use. I'm looking forward to using it consistently throughout this winter to see the full benefits of horse oil. The downside is the packaging - please change it to a tube format! Jar-type creams are really more inconvenient! Every time you open and close it, it's exposed to air, which probably isn't good for the product. Also, I'm disappointed that I didn't experience the supposed blemish-soothing effects of horse oil cream. While it's mild and non-irritating, I didn't see any calming effects on my skin. Since it's oil-based, when I increased the amount due to colder weather, I noticed some blemishes appearing. Inflammatory blemishes, unfortunately. Make sure to control the amount you use. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinOct 17, 2022
I've tried horse oil cream from Japan before, but I remember it being sticky and needing to be melted before application, which was a bit of a hassle. The Toad Horse Oil Cream, however, is different: 1. First impression was great - no fishy smell, just a clean, fragrance-free formula. 2. The texture seems thick at first, but it melts like sorbet when applied to the skin. It's not burdensome to apply at all. 3. The hydration is deep. I usually use a lot of cream and oil because I hate waking up with dry skin, but with this horse oil cream alone, I could feel the moisturizing effect lasting until morning. I'm not sure if it's due to my skin condition, the changing seasons, or the horse oil cream itself, but I suddenly experienced a lot of blemishes. So I've been avoiding using it for the past few days. Since the timing coincided with starting this cream, I'll wait for my skin to calm down before trying it again. For now, I'm only using small amounts on areas that easily dry out, like around the eyes. I apply small amounts frequently around my lips, eyes, and other areas with less sebum production. It's also good for cuticles - it softens them without feeling too slippery. - Hwahae UserDry SkinOct 16, 2022
I was amazed when I first applied it in the evening and woke up the next morning. My skin felt incredibly firm and radiant, as if it had been regenerated overnight! Being quite sensitive to fragrances, I really appreciated that this product is unscented. I also loved its Vaseline-like texture - a little goes a long way, allowing you to easily spread it across your entire face. I'm not sure if it's because of this product, but I suddenly developed a lot of blemishes that I've never had before. However, my mom, who tried it with me, says there's no better cream than this one, so it seems the effects can really vary from person to person. When I saw the price, I was a bit shocked. Still, I think for those who find horse oil creams effective, it might be worth the splurge! I found it works great when mixed with a thicker foundation - it prevents caking and looks fantastic. Also, after applying it to my face, I used the leftover cream on my fingertips to moisturize my cuticles, which left them feeling wonderfully hydrated. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 16, 2022
The red container stands out among other cosmetics and is easy to spot. It's colorless and odorless, with a balm-like texture that slowly melts when applied to the back of your hand. As someone with dry skin, I love that when I apply it before bed, my skin doesn't feel parched the next morning! When autumn and winter come around, my skin tends to get dry and feel like it's cracking, but with this product, I don't experience that dryness even during the day. If you apply too much, it can lead to blemishes on your face, likely due to the combination with your skin's natural oils. Since even a small amount spreads well across the face, it's best to apply it sparingly. This horse oil cream seems more suitable for dry or combination dehydrated skin types rather than oily skin. It's especially beneficial for those who experience dead skin cells or patchiness when applying makeup - try mixing a bit of this product with your foundation or apply it beforehand for better results. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinOct 14, 2022
Surprisingly, it wasn't sticky at all and applied smoothly, which I really liked. The texture spreads easily, gliding on the skin. Being 100% horse oil cream, it felt completely different from regular creams. It's closer to an oil than a cream in texture. It moisturizes well and seems to absorb quickly too. You can hardly smell it unless you put your nose right up to it. With my oily, acne-prone skin, I was worried about using it from the start, and sure enough, it was too greasy for my skin. A few days after applying it, I developed blemishes. I'm still hesitant to use it regularly. It might be better suited for winter use or for those with dry skin. I applied it in the order of toner, cream, and then horse oil cream. Rather than using it alone, mixing it with another cream might make it less overwhelming for the skin. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinSensitive SkinOct 13, 2022
Hydration power As expected, the moisturizing effect is top-notch! It seems to tackle even deep dryness! Soothing properties The blemishes that were red and inflamed have disappeared! I'm truly satisfied with this aspect. Skin irritation While using this, I noticed a few cystic acne spots popping up in areas where I usually don't get them... I had to quickly calm my skin with a soothing product and extract a few of the pimples that appeared. It seems like this product might be prone to causing blemishes, which is really disappointing. Uncomfortable slippery texture I could overlook other issues, but this slippery finish... I absolutely hate it! My hair keeps sticking to my face, and it ends up getting all messy. It's a product you can only apply before going to sleep. The product description suggests frequent application throughout the day, but how can anyone apply this texture all day long? It feels like your skin can't breathe. It's not exactly a pro tip, but because I dislike the texture, I only apply it at night before bed. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinOct 12, 2022
The texture is closer to a balm than a cream! It looks rich and thick, and its hydrating power is no joke! It feels like it doesn't give moisture a chance to escape, making it suitable even for those with extremely dry skin in the dead of winter. For reference, I have oily, blemish-prone skin, but surprisingly, as long as I managed my pores well, my skin felt... soft? the next day. It was quite amazing! This might not be suitable for those with oily skin like mine. I have very oily skin that tends to break out with even slightly rich products, so I'm afraid it might be too much even in the depths of winter... It's my skin's fault, I suppose... It's a shame. I think it would be great to apply this to dry areas like elbows, in addition to the face and eye area, during winter. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 25, 2021
I appreciated the natural, fragrance-free feel of the product and was pleased that it wasn't overly packaged. I heard horse oil was good for sebum control, so I, with my oily skin, decided to give it a try. But as expected... oils seem to be kryptonite for oily skin. Blemishes appeared immediately after use. Just to be sure, I waited a few weeks to let my skin calm down and tried again, but the result was the same. Those with oily or blemish-prone skin should think twice before using this. A tiny amount is sufficient to cover the entire face. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 3, 2021
I have extremely dry skin. Surprisingly, it wasn't as oily as I expected. The key seems to be using a small amount or just the right quantity. For reasons unknown, after 2-3 days of use, I developed small bumps like hives on my forehead, under my eyes, and on both cheeks. Although I have dry skin, it seems like it's either over-nourished or my pores are getting clogged. I applied it thinly after using an ampoule and moisturizer, but this still happened. It might be fine if I didn't apply anything else, but I'm too scared to continue using it. I'm declaring a halt to its use. Apply a very thin layer using a minimal amount - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 10, 2021
The packaging is beautiful. I found it refreshing because of its unique design. Every time I use this product, I break out... It might be because it's too oily.
