Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers! 1. First off, it's fantastic that there's no eye irritation. I'm usually very cautious when choosing sunscreens because I'm prone to eye irritation. As expected from a baby product, the gentle ingredients seem to prevent any eye discomfort. Even though it's marketed as mild, I've always been scared to apply sun products around my eyes, but with this one, I can apply it all around the eye area! My 7-year-old daughter also reports no eye irritation at all. 2. The absorption is excellent. It has a thin emulsion-like texture that applies lightly and smoothly. Some products labeled as sun emulsions or sun serums can feel thick or sticky when applied, but this one spreads easily with a fluid emulsion feel, without any heaviness. 3. Definitely water-washable! This is a crucial factor when choosing sun products for babies and kids. No matter how gentle the ingredients are, if a sun product is hard to cleanse off, you're less likely to apply it daily on children. Adults might do a thorough double cleanse with cleansing oil and foam, but with kids, you worry about foam getting in their eyes, so it's usually a quick rinse. The biggest advantage of this product is that it washes off incredibly well with just water. Rubbing with water alone removes it cleanly without any residue. Of course, using soap would be even more thorough, right? 4. Moderate white cast. Some might see this as a drawback, but for me, it's a plus. I usually share sunscreen with my child, so it works perfectly as a slight tone-up before makeup. My child even says it makes her look pretty and white, making her want to apply more! While it's one of the most satisfying sun products I've tried recently, if I had to point out one flaw... There's a slight stickiness. It spreads so well when applying, but during the drying process, the texture changes to become a bit sticky. However, it doesn't pill or cake up when applying makeup over it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinApr 28, 2020
I was curious about this product and applied to be a Hwahae Tester, but I didn't get selected. So, I bought it with my own money and here's my review. I'll focus on the drawbacks, so those considering a purchase can make an informed decision based on these points. Mineral sunscreens have their downsides like cleansing difficulties, white cast, inner dryness with oily surface, and application issues. However, this one has some positives: 1. Washability: Despite being a mineral sunscreen, it rinses off well. This is truly praiseworthy. Though it does come off easily... 2. Application: It contains C-alkyl benzoate, which is key to its smooth application. It feels like a hydrating emulsion. 3. Moderate white cast: They've used good light-scattering agents, balancing application and white cast. However, using the recommended amount can still leave an unattractive white tint. 4. Minimal oiliness. 5. Low irritation: Unlike some 'natural' products that use strong essential oils, this is nearly fragrance-free and doesn't contain harsh aromatics, making it less irritating. This is my favorite aspect. 1. Inner dryness: Typical of mineral sunscreens. A solid skincare routine can help mitigate this. 2. Application issues: While it spreads easily, it dries quickly. Trying to apply it thoroughly can lead to pilling and uneven patches. 3. Skin deterioration: It gets dry over time, with a powdery feel. Wearing it from morning to evening cleansing seems too much for the skin. After 3 days of use, I noticed blemishes and roughness. I'll only use it for short periods now. It's not suitable for daily use as it can worsen skin condition. This is its biggest drawback. 4. Difficult to mix: Its milky texture makes it hard to blend with other products. I tried mixing it with chemical sunscreens to address its standalone issues, but it was very inconvenient. 5. Poor value: At full price it's over $30, and even on sale it's $20. There are many similarly effective sunscreens for $10-$20, making this hard to justify. I won't be repurchasing. Additional point: 6. Not truly washable: While the white cast rinses off with water, giving the illusion of washability, it's deceiving. Even after double cleansing, there's still that typical sunscreen residue. You need an oil cleanser to get truly smooth skin.
