It's quite transparent! Now, I have skin prone to redness, so I always apply a green sunscreen or makeup base before my foundation, followed by concealer. Since sunscreen is the first step in my skincare routine, it's crucial that it works well with my foundation. Even on days when I'm not wearing makeup, I need something non-irritating with just the right amount of brightening. We all know sunscreen is a must 365 days a year, right?! The brightening effect isn't too strong, and any white cast disappears over time. Anyway, while searching for sunscreens, I remembered how effective the Real Barrier sunscreen was when I had a severe case of seborrheic dermatitis. When I found out they had a version with a green base, I quickly snagged it at a great price on a secondhand marketplace! Using it, I realized... this product is truly transparent! It's incredibly consistent - the texture when you first apply it and how it feels on your skin doesn't change. It's a product that combines both oil and moisture, gliding on smoothly. It's oddly rich yet incredibly hydrating, so it doesn't separate on the skin. There's absolutely no deep dryness, and foundation adheres beautifully on top of it.
ConsIt's quite rich. If you use oil blotting papers, you'll see they get completely soaked... You'll need to use powder, that's for sure! It's considerably oilier compared to other sunscreens, but it does contain a lot of moisture to balance it out. Also, in my opinion, the green tint was quite subtle. (Referring to the photo, it's clearly lighter in green compared to other makeup bases.) This means it absolutely won't cover redness on its own - you should approach it as a gentle sun protection product. Additionally, mineral sunscreens usually contain both zinc and titanium, but this one only has zinc, which made me question its sun protection ability a bit. I was surprised that a mineral sunscreen could have such good absorption... but it's from the Real Barrier line, so we can trust it, right?
TipIt's extremely rich... Photo reference is a must. However, it's also very hydrating, so it might be great for those with dry skin. I apply this on my U-zone and use Cosrx Tone-Up Sun Cream on my T-zone!

I've struggled with severe acne and oily skin for over a decade, since late elementary school, making my skin sensitive and prone to redness. I'm currently undergoing redness treatment at a dermatologist, and while even sunscreen can be a bit harsh, I was satisfied with how this reduced the redness. - Being a mineral sunscreen, unlike chemical ones, it provides immediate UV protection upon application. This means you can apply it quickly before heading out. It also has a subtle brightening effect, which helps make your bare face look a bit more polished when you go out. - Thanks to the cica ingredients, it gives me a feeling that it will soothe my skin well.
Cons- My skin is extremely sensitive... Even products that initially work well often cause reactions after a week or two, so I'm a bit worried. - I have severe oily skin, possibly seborrheic dermatitis? But I also experience occasional deep dryness. After wearing this for a while, my skin feels oily but also slightly tight, as if the moisture has evaporated... + Unfortunately, my skin ended up reacting badly. The application felt nice, though.

The ingredients seem to be quite gentle on the skin.
ConsIt's a bit richer than I expected, and it might be challenging to layer multiple times.

I used it throughout The Hwahae Testers period without any skin blemishes. 🌿Ingredients The ingredients are skin-friendly, with soothing centella asiatica extract, making it comfortable even for sensitive skin. 🌿Fragrance-Free It's a gentle, fragrance-free sunscreen. I appreciate that the ingredient list doesn't include any fragrances. Being unscented makes it perfect for daily use. 🌿Application Despite being a mineral sunscreen, it spreads easily without feeling thick. It feels moisturizing at first, then settles into a pleasantly matte finish over time. 🌿Green Base It helps balance out redness and evens skin tone. This was my first time trying a green-based tone-up sunscreen, and it suited my skin well. 🌿Tone-Up Effect The tone-up effect may vary depending on your complexion, skin type, and personal preference. There's a noticeable white cast initially, but it absorbs naturally over time. It's useful for a quick tone correction when going out bare-faced.
ConsThe price point is a bit high. I hope Hwahae offers it on sale or in value sets (1+1) more often. I didn't notice an immediate soothing effect while using it. There's slight pilling around the pores and sides of the nose, so it's important to prep your skin well before applying. Make sure to build a strong foundation of hydration and moisture. While not severe, I felt some deep dryness over time and a slight increase in oiliness.
TipApply in small amounts multiple times! It's crucial to control the amount with this product, so instead of applying a lot at once, spread it out in several thin layers for better absorption.

Natural brightening effect When I first applied it, the light green, moisturizing formula spread smoothly. It initially appeared whiter than expected. You could think of it as a blend of organic sunscreen texture with the white cast of mineral sunscreen. After 1-2 minutes, the white cast gradually absorbs, resulting in a more natural color that evens skin tone nicely. It definitely makes your complexion appear lighter than before application. 2. Extremely hydrating application Unlike some products that start off moisturizing but become dry and stiff as you apply, this one maintains its hydrating quality from start to finish. It spreads easily and smoothly across the entire face without any discomfort whatsoever. 3. Fragrance-free There's absolutely no scent, not even from the raw ingredients. This makes it suitable for those with sensitive noses, as it won't trigger any likes or dislikes based on fragrance.
Cons1. Oiliness As someone with oily skin, I prefer a more matte finish, especially as the weather starts to warm up. This product takes some time to set to a less dewy finish, so if you head out immediately after application, your face might look a bit shiny. The photo shows how it looks right after application on the back of my hand under LED lighting, so you can see the level of shine.

It's a cream formula that spreads smoothly! The sunscreen itself has a light greenish tint, but when applied to the face, it appears white with a slight brightening effect. Regarding blemishes and richness, there's a slight oily feeling right after application, but if you gently blot with a tissue, it doesn't feel overly greasy. I've been using the product for about ten days, and I haven't experienced any major breakouts or worsening of existing blemishes. For makeup compatibility and recommended skin types, due to its rich texture, it might pair better with matte base products. When I used it with a dewy cushion, the base seemed to break down faster. It would be great for oily skin types in winter, while those with dry skin could use it well throughout all seasons.
ConsRegarding oiliness and slight breakdown, as I have combination dehydrated skin, my skin tends to produce more oil when the weather gets warmer. Yes, it does seem to make my skin a bit oilier. On warmer days, there's some shine after applying the sunscreen, but that's somewhat unavoidable for oily skin types. I'd recommend this more for those with dry skin!
TipUsing a spatula to apply helps spread it thinly and evenly, avoiding any clumping. The smooth application made it a great match! For those with oily skin, after application, use half a tissue (since it's two-ply, use one layer!) to remove excess oil from your face. Following up with powder is also a good idea!

Since I don't usually wear makeup, I prefer sunscreens that can cover my pores, which are my main skin concern. The Cica sunscreen instantly covers my pores, which I'm really happy about! It's great for hiding my skin complexes. While it doesn't cover 100% perfectly, it's much better than not using anything and I like that it makes my pores less noticeable. The Cica sunscreen has a green tint that's perfect for my uneven skin tone. It covers redness and brightens my complexion, which I love. It goes on white at first, but if you pat it in well, it blends naturally with the skin without feeling out of place. This sunscreen would be fantastic for those with redness-prone skin. It neutralizes redness and evens skin tone, which I'm really satisfied with. I didn't experience any eye irritation or discomfort while applying it. It's not thick or difficult to apply at all - the texture is smooth and spreads easily on the skin. If it looks too white, just pat it in well to absorb. Also, there's no unpleasant smell or adverse reactions. That's why I'm using it with great satisfaction. Because of the green tint, it doesn't leave much residue on my mask! Even in the afternoon, I never felt like my skin was suffocating or dry. I've been using it with complete satisfaction. When I run out, I'm definitely considering repurchasing.
ConsThe price is a bit high, which makes me hesitate about repurchasing. If it goes on sale, I'd definitely consider buying it again! After some time, my skin tends to produce a lot of oil and gets shiny, and that's when my pores start to look enlarged and blackheads become slightly visible. This is probably due to my skin type, though. People with dry skin might not experience this issue. The opening of the sunscreen tube is a bit large, so sometimes too much product comes out. But it's not really inconvenient or disappointing.

Slight green tint: The sunscreen has a subtle green tint that helps neutralize redness! I usually use a color corrector, but with this, I don't need a separate green corrector, which is great. Natural brightening: I loved how it naturally evens skin tone. I usually use a brightening moisturizer on my neck, but with this sunscreen, I don't need to use a separate product for my neck. However, if you dislike any white cast, this might not be for you!
ConsSlight thickness and richness: Due to the nature of mineral sunscreens, it has a somewhat thick texture and feels rich. If you have dry skin, make sure to apply a good moisturizer underneath! As it can feel a bit oily, you might need to pay attention to oil control in summer.
TipMineral sunscreen characteristics: No eye irritation / Less likely to clog pores and cause blemishes / Gentle on skin / Thick texture with subsequent richness / Absorbs quickly, so it's fine to apply right before going out

If you're okay with the slight white cast from mineral sunscreens, you'll find this looks natural :) - Texture: : It feels soft and hydrating without being too heavy! - Scent: : There's a slight typical sunscreen scent, but I didn't find it bothersome
ConsThe rich and moisturizing feel might make those with oily skin, or anyone during summer, feel a bit greasy..!

It spreads easily without clumping, which I found very satisfying. Tone-up effect: With its green base, it's great for those with redness or flushing. It helps cover facial redness to some extent. The brightening effect looks natural, not like a floating white mask on your face. Eye sensitivity: Unlike chemical sunscreens that often sting my eyes, this mineral sunscreen caused no eye irritation. Blemishes: True to its calming ingredients, this sunscreen didn't cause any blemishes. However, I'm not sure if it actively provides a soothing effect when applied.
ConsIt's a bit rich for oily skin types. It probably won't work as a standalone product in summer. You might need to use it under a matte foundation or cushion compact.
