It doesn't leave a greasy shine, striking the perfect balance between a matte finish and hydration. The staying power is impressive too.
ConsI'm worried this product might disappear from shelves because people don't know about it yet.
TipWhen cleansing, make sure to massage it off thoroughly with your face wash.

I was looking for a sunscreen that wouldn't pill when I apply foundation over it.
ConsToday, I didn't feel like wearing foundation, so I applied my usual skincare routine - toner, emulsion, and cream - followed by this sunscreen before heading to work. When I got home, I noticed that it had pilled around my chin area, looking like dead skin cells. I'm not sure if wearing a mask made it worse. While the ingredients are good, the pilling issue is disappointing. I probably won't use it again, except maybe on my arms and legs in summer. What a shame!
TipHow are others managing to use this without experiencing pilling?

If you're looking for a mineral sunscreen that's easy to cleanse off, I highly recommend this one. Update: It might pill a little at first, but once it's fully set, it doesn't budge at all. I really like it!
ConsThe only downside is that I tend to apply sunscreen generously, and with this one, if you apply too much, it can pill like eraser shavings, which is a bit disappointing.

Absolutely no eye irritation! I'm extremely sensitive to eye irritation, so I deliberately applied the sunscreen around my eyes as soon as I received it to test it out. There was zero stinging sensation. 2. Even on my darker skin tone (shade 23), there was no white cast or color mismatch. 3. I have oily skin, so I usually avoid products that feel greasy. However, I really liked the balanced finish of this sunscreen - it wasn't oily at all. The application was also moisturizing and smooth, making it super comfortable to use!
ConsDepending on your skin condition and the amount applied, it can pill a bit. When applied over some dead skin cells, I noticed it clumping up slightly and appearing white. However, this was only visible upon very close inspection and wasn't really noticeable. The main issue was that it would pill if I applied too much. I tend to use sunscreen more for UV protection rather than as a makeup base, so I usually apply an amount slightly larger than a 100 won coin but less than a 500 won coin. After sweating a little and checking the mirror 5 hours later, I found that it had pilled all over my face, leaving white patches. It was quite shocking to see it had pilled so much (especially on my cheeks) after just a brief bout of sweating outdoors...
TipRemember to control the amount you apply!

Here's what I found: 1. It has a moisturizing, emulsion-like texture without feeling greasy. 2. There's a slight white cast, which is expected with mineral sunscreens, but it's not severe. The level of white cast is similar to Innisfree's Blueberry Sun Cream. 3. So far, it's the most long-lasting in terms of hydration among all the sunscreens I've tried. As someone with super sensitive and extremely dry skin, I've researched and tried many sunscreens. I wanted to find a mineral sunscreen that wouldn't dry out my skin, as chemical ones, despite being less drying, irritate my eyes. However, even when I bought supposedly moisturizing mineral sunscreens, they would either leave my skin feeling dry on the inside with just oil on the surface, or just dry out completely after a while. I choose sunscreens based on how long they can keep my skin from feeling tight after applying them over a thorough skincare routine on good skin days. Until now, I hadn't found a sunscreen that could maintain moisture until the afternoon, even with good skin condition and a solid base routine. To give you an idea, I've tried sunscreens from Innisfree (Blueberry and True Care), Dr.G (Pink and Green), Hera, Espoir Water Splash, Make P:rem, Ampleur, and most from Missha. Among these, Retowa keeps my skin hydrated the longest. Usually, my skin would feel tight about 3 hours after applying sunscreen at 7 AM, but with Retowa, it feels fine until around lunchtime. While I'm not sure how it'll perform in the dead of winter, it held up well during the dry spring transition period, so I'm optimistic.
ConsBeing a mineral sunscreen, it takes a bit of time to absorb. While I usually prefer large, value-for-money products, that's not the case with sunscreens. It's recommended to reapply every 3-4 hours, and for someone with extremely dry skin like me who needs to replenish oil and moisture, this takes up the most space in my bag when I carry it around. Also, while it's a plus for me, it's not waterproof - it washes off easily with just water.
TipSince it washes off easily, when my skin feels dry and needs hydration, I can gently remove some with a toner-soaked cotton pad, apply cream, and then reapply the sunscreen. This alone keeps my skin from drying out (for context, my skin is so dry that this wouldn't be enough with other sunscreens - I'd need to apply more products). Being a mineral sunscreen, Retowa doesn't pair perfectly with makeup. However, sunscreens that work well with makeup tend to be hybrid formulas or cause inner dryness for me. I found that mixing Retowa with a bit of my usual makeup base that works well for me gives good results. When applying Retowa sunscreen, I mix in a bit of my usual, compatible makeup base, and it works out well.

I completely forgot about it... Here are the positives: 1. Incredibly hydrating - It's so moisturizing that when I applied it before my cushion foundation, it prevented any flaking. Highly recommended for those with dry skin. 2. Quick absorption When you apply it, you can feel it instantly adhering to your skin. I don't use sunscreen often, but I found this one to be really excellent.
Cons1. Sticky? Tacky? After applying and letting it absorb, when you touch your face, it feels a bit... hard to describe. Sticky? Tacky? It's a bit of an ambiguous sensation. 2. Dispensing control When you first use it, it tends to dispense quite a lot. I ended up with excess product on the back of my hand due to poor control. Keep in mind that you don't need to squeeze out as much as you might think - a little goes a long way for full face coverage.
TipI recommend this for those with dry skin. Personally, even after applying skincare and a hydrating sunscreen, my cushion foundation can still flake if I'm not careful, so make sure to do your skincare routine thoroughly. This is more suitable for dry skin types rather than oily skin types.

You'll notice this from the moment you open the cap and the sunscreen flows out...! Unlike other sunscreens, even though it's a mineral sunscreen, the initial sensation is refreshing! Considering the price, 120ml is quite generous compared to other brands' products in my opinion~! It feels like you'll be able to use it liberally~~?! For those with super sensitive skin like me, who might experience itching or redness when using just any sunscreen, this gentle formula caused no stinging, itching, or redness at all! (My younger brother also tried it and said it spread really well, feeling as smooth and hydrating as applying an emulsion~!)
ConsHowever, being a mineral sunscreen, it does tend to feel a bit dry after application! So if you want to prevent your makeup from breaking down, I'd recommend using a moisturizing compact powder after applying this sunscreen! At 120ml, it's honestly a bit bulky for a portable sunscreen, and since the container is soft, even a slight squeeze when opening the cap might cause too much product to come out..!

This product, however, is different. While it's not as hydrating as they claim, it does have a bit more moisture than typical mineral sunscreens. It's still drier compared to chemical sunscreens, but it feels like a nice balance between the two. Unlike other mineral sunscreens that need to be applied quickly like a matte foundation, this one glides on smoothly like an emulsion (it feels more like a sun milk). After application, other mineral sunscreens leave a powdery finish, but this one feels like you've applied a light BB cream - not too moisturizing, but you can tell something's there. What surprised me most was the minimal white cast. It only increases skin brightness by about 5%, which is barely noticeable to the naked eye. I've never seen a mineral sunscreen with such little white cast (excluding sun sticks). Usually, I'm very careful about reapplying sunscreen due to white cast and dryness, but with this product, I can reapply generously without worry. It's fragrance-free, non-irritating, and I didn't experience any itching throughout the day. The attached photos compare the white cast - I applied it to half of my hand, and you can barely see a difference. 1. Before application 2. Product on hand 3. Applied to lower half 4. Same as 3 - The difference between applied and non-applied areas is almost indistinguishable, showing how little white cast there is.
ConsThere is some pilling with this product. At first, I was confused why the sunscreen kept pilling, but I think it particularly didn't mesh well with the ampoule I was using. It would pill noticeably, especially around my chin, even without much movement. On days when I only used an exfoliating toner before applying the sunscreen, there was less pilling. However, if I touched or rubbed my face, it would still pill slightly. While I generally like larger sized products, the shelf life after opening is only 6 months, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it all in time. Some people find the large container inconvenient, but I didn't have any issues with it - it's similar in size to a regular foam cleanser.
TipFor long outings, it might be good to transfer some into a 30ml pump bottle for easy carrying. Once the pandemic is over, I plan to buy some empty bottles for this purpose.

First off, this sunscreen truly lives up to its claim of being hydrating. When I first applied it, I could immediately feel the moisturizing effect on my skin! However, once it absorbs, it leaves a soft, matte finish that doesn't cause my foundation to pill. Usually, if I use the wrong sunscreen, I break out in tiny bumps all over my face, but this product was fine! I think I was able to use it worry-free due to its gentle ingredients.
ConsGiven its high moisture content, the texture is a bit runny. Because of this, when I gently squeezed the tube, too much product came out unexpectedly. One downside is that it contains stearic acid, which can clog pores. This is purely my personal experience, but I had some blemishes on my chin that had almost cleared up, and after using this product, they seemed to flare up again. I suspect it might be due to the stearic acid. However, it's hard to find sunscreens without this ingredient, so I'll probably continue using it with this in mind.
TipI recommend this product for: - Those who prefer a lightweight sunscreen without white cast - Anyone looking for a sunscreen that doesn't cause makeup to pill - Those who find their current sunscreen too thick or drying

First off, I was shocked by how big the bottle was when I received it, haha! Sometimes you come across sunscreens that feel thick when applying, but this one glides on smoothly. It feels really hydrating when you put it on!! Surprisingly, the finish was soft and powdery. As I have oily skin, I appreciated the matte finish. I liked that it didn't have that typical sunscreen greasiness. Usually, I'm not a fan of how sunscreens feel, so I don't use them often (turns out a lot of people feel this way!). What I loved most about this sunscreen is that the moisturizing feeling comes from hydration, not oil!! There was a slight white cast when applying, but it wasn't severe, and it brightened my complexion by about half a shade. (It becomes less noticeable as it absorbs) So sometimes I can use this alone without foundation. It also works well under foundation. To sum up what I liked: 1. Large size 2. Hydrating application 3. Soft, powdery finish 4. No greasy feeling 5. Minimal white cast That's about it!
ConsSince I'm always in a rush in the mornings, I sometimes slapped it on quickly like an old man applying toner and emulsion. I thought it would absorb well, but it kind of pilled up like dead skin. When using this product, you need to apply it carefully.
TipSometimes I mix sunscreen with my foundation when applying, and this product works great for that too!!
